Although the island was called ‘Pungdo’ thanks to its beautiful Danpung trees (Japanese Maple), the Japanese who won the war in front of this island started to call this island Pungdo (meaning abundance). This small island 24 km from Daebu Island belongs to Daebudong, Ansan. As the sea level around this island is deeper than that of other West Sea islands, a lot of fish including Rockfish and Trout are caught near the island, and mountain greens and medical herbs grow. In the spring, the entire island is covered with wild flowers, attracting many photographers. Visitors can take a ferry from Incheon Port Terminal or Daebu Island to Pungdo Island.
